NEW: HOLIDAY STRESS. The holiday season can be an especially stressful time. There are social and family expectations and obligations, financial burdens, hosting responsibilities, and navigating family dynamics. Here is how you and your family can have a holiday season that is merry and bright and (mostly!) stress-free.
- Take care of your mind and body. Exercise, move, or stretch your body. Try to get enough sleep and stay hydrated! These things will benefit your mental and physical health and greatly impact your ability to handle stress.
- Practice self-care. Take time away from the hustle and bustle and recharge. Find what fills you up and brings you peace. That could be reading a good book, going for a walk in nature, practicing yoga, spending time with a pet, etc.
- Spend quality time with loved ones. Bake your favorite holiday treat, do a family puzzle, slow down and reconnect with the people that matter most.
- Plan ahead. Make a calendar of events and lists of tasks that need to be completed. Do not be afraid to say no if you are feeling overwhelmed.
Make sure taking care of your mental health is at the top of your holiday to-do list this season!
