Mid-Semester Updates: Moving Forward Together

This semester, our campus community has had to adapt to the many physical changes taking place across The Beach, and we know it hasn’t always been easy. Through it all, we’ve seen incredible creativity, flexibility and care from students, faculty and staff as we navigate this transition together.

We remain committed to supporting the college experience beyond the classroom by continuing to provide spaces, programs and services that help students stay connected, well and engaged, even as our campus evolves.

Below you'll find some mid-semester updates to help you power through the rest of the semester.

Food Updates

We've heard your feedback about dining variety and convenience, and we're excited to share that new options are here and more are on the way!

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL) trailer is now open! Located on the Health and Human Services 1 (HHS1) lawn, CBTL is serving students Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Enjoy all your familiar favorites--handcrafted espresso drinks, teas, and pastries--plus the return of mobile ordering for added convenience.

And that's not all the caffeinated joy we've brought to campus. Higher Taste, Plant-Based featuring Bliss Coffee is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the FO3 Courtyard. This local, small business is crafting unique espresso drinks that are all completely plant-based. Don't miss your chance to grab a caramelized banana latte and support a local business.

For a full list of all campus food options, visit the Where to Eat & Shop page.

Seating and Study Spaces

We’re also working with campus partners to identify and create new seating and study spaces across campus. You can find a current list of seating and study spots on our new Seating and Study Spaces page on the ASI website. And, for all the night owls out there, the ASI After-Hours Study Space at the Hillside Dining Hall is available Monday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m.

USU: Get to Know the USU Construction Team

Did you know?!

Several members of the construction team working on the Future U project are proud Long Beach State alumni! That’s right—this project is truly for students, by students. It’s being led by graduates who once walked these same halls and even includes a current student gaining hands-on experience as an intern.

These team members know firsthand the impact the USU has on student life, which makes their role in shaping its future especially meaningful.

Meet the team and hear how it feels to help transform their alma mater into a space for generations of students to come.
