Late yesterday afternoon, a directive came down from Bishop Joseph Brennan for all schools in the Diocese of Fresno to extend campus closures for an indeterminate amount of time. Originally, we were expected to return to campus on March 30th. However, due to the circumstances surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19), it is unknown at this time when we will be allowed to resume on-campus classes.
We will continue with online learning through ZOOM, as our students and staff are adapting exceptionally well. Please make sure your student has all the teacher ZOOM ID numbers he or she may need, as we will be removing them from the website tomorrow. We cannot express how proud we are of our students for learning a new program and taking it just as seriously as they do their classes on campus. The success of transitioning to online learning would not have been possible had it not been for the hard work they have put in, along with our faculty and staff.
With the extension of the closure, we know many students are disappointed to not be at school with friends and/or planning the fun and spiritual events we have left this year. We are too, and we are working to come up with ways to keep the school year special for all our students, especially the seniors. If you have any ideas, we would love to hear them. For our incoming freshmen, we are working to develop a plan that will make your transition to Garces Memorial as smooth as possible.
Additionally, for the remainder of the closure, all updates will be released directly through official decrees of Bishop Brennan. This means, we will likely be finding out new information about the closure with you. We know these are uncertain times, and we continue to do our best to be mindful of all situations at home. Please be patient as we continue to navigate through all of this. We will keep you updated with everything we know. Thank you again for all the support.
We know these are scary times and there are a lot of unknowns. We are doing everything in our power to keep as much normalcy for our students as possible. A video is circulating that has brought some comfort to our staff members, and we hope it can do the same for our students and families. To watch, click
We pray for the health and safety of everyone. As always, if you have questions or concerns, please email
