Community Business Fair & Convocation
Monday, August 13
Convocation will begin at 2 pm in the Chisholm Trail HS competition gym and will kick off our 60th anniversary celebration of the consolidation of our district.
This year's theme is "Proud Past. Bold Future." The gym doors will open at 1:30 pm. Please note that Convocation is required professional learning for all staff. The Community Business Fair and Convocation are shaping up for a fun afternoon of learning, fellowship, and community support!

Compliance Bundle Due August 19
Due August 8 if using as credit for August 10 flex day
All district employees will complete the EMS ISD Compliance Bundle in Canvas this year. Email invitations for the course were sent, but employees can also self-enroll using the appropriate link for their campus or department found by
clicking here. The Compliance Bundle must be completed by August 19. For staff planning to use it as credit for the August 10 flexible professional learning day, the Bundle must be completed by August 8.

Come & Go Interactive Display Device Introduction for Teachers
All teachers are invited to come check out our new Interactive Display Devices and literally get your hands on these boards! Teachers will discover how to use the built-in educational apps, how to connect a laptop, how to quickly display mobile devices to the boards, and more.

August 24 is the last day of open enrollment for benefits. Enrollment is mandatory for all new hires, those employees who would like to make changes, and/or those who currently have an HSA or FSA account that you would like to continue for the 2018-19 plan year.

Health Screening Benefits Claim Form
Don't forget to file your Health Screening Benefit Claim forms with MetLife if you have Accident or Critical Illness policies and have had a health screening done. You may be eligible to get an annual wellness benefits refund check if you send the forms in. To find out if you have Accident or Critical Illness coverage, you can log into your MetLife account online or check your pay stub.
You can either fill out the claim form for the health screening and fax it directly to MetLife at 1-855-306-7350 or call MetLife directly at 1-866-626-3705 with questions regarding your health screening benefits. Click below for forms.

Staff Spotlight:
Kevin York, EMS ISD Electrician
Alerted Watson High School of fire approaching building
District electrician Kevin York was at the right place at the right time and saved Watson High School from potential fire damage by alerting the Watson HS staff of a grass fire outside that was spreading quickly and approaching the building. 911 was called and the fire was put out before it reached the building.
Melanie Stitt, Watson HS Principal, said York is truly a hero.

Leah Roberts, Wayside MS Assistant Principal
Named TASSP Region 11 Outstanding Middle School Assistant Principal of the Year
Leah Roberts, Wayside Middle School assistant principal, has been selected to represent the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) as the Region 11 Outstanding Middle School Assistant Principal of the Year.
TASSP recognizes outstanding principals and assistant principals from the 20 regional education centers in the state. As a Region 11 winner, Roberts is eligible to compete for the state title of Texas Assistant Principal of the Year. School administrators are nominated and chosen by their peers within their regions. Nominations are based upon exemplary performance and outstanding leadership.
