CTHS Track & Field Earn State Medals
Chisholm Trail Girls 4X100-Meter Relay Team Places 2nd
The Chisholm Trail High School girls 4X100-meter relay team placed second at the UIL 5A State Track and Field meet in Austin at the University of Texas on May 10.
The team, consisting of junior Shakiah Randall, sophomore Deja Shaw-Huckaby, sophomore Riley Harris, and junior J'Zaria Cartwright, ran a 46.48. The girls team placed fifth overall at State.
Chisholm Trail High School sophomore Deja Shaw-Huckaby not only was a part of the second-place relay team, but as an individual, she also
placed second in the 100-meter with a time of 11.79, third in the 200-meter running a 24.35, and seventh in long jump with a 17'11" effort.
Chisholm Trail High School junior Nathan Franco placed third in hurdles with a 14.25 time.

EMS ISD Board of Trustees Election Results
Unofficial results from the Tarrant County Elections Administration show Tim Daughtrey, William Boaz, and Steven G. Newcom as the winners for Places 3, 4, and 5 on the EMS ISD Board of Trustees. Daughtrey and Newcom are returning Board members. Boaz ran unopposed for the seat vacated by retiring Board member Dick Elkins. To view the unofficial results, click here.

Save the Date: District Reading Festival
On Tuesday, May 21, EMS ISD will host the Fourth-Annual District Reading Festival for Pre-K and elementary families. The event will be from 5-6:30 pm and will be hosted simultaneously at Boswell, Saginaw, and Chisholm Trail High Schools. Families can attend the festival at the nearest EMS ISD high school to read with local high school heroes and to receive a new book along with several "gently used" books. Staff Spotlight: EMS ISD Coaches
Coaches of the Year Named in Gymnastics, Wrestling, Softball

Jimmy Averitte, Boswell boys gymnastics coach, has been named the Region IV Boys Gymnastics Coach of the Year. Averitte has coached gymnastic at Boswell since 2000 and has been in public education for 22 years. When he was in high school, Averitte was on Boswell's first team to qualify for the State gymnastics meet. After high school, Averitte competed in the Texas Gymnastics Conference and the USA Gymnastics College Club division for three years.
Stormey Morris, Saginaw girls gymnastics coach, has been named the Region IV Girls Coach of the Year. Morris has coached gymnastics at Saginaw since 2010 and is in her 10th year in public education. She
attended Hardin-Simmons University, where she was on the nationally recognized cheerleading squad and participated in intercollegiate gymnastics. Morris was a club gymnast from the age of 7 until she entered high school at the Gymnastics Sports Center in Abilene.
Huey Huynh, Chisholm Trail wrestling coach, has been named District Wrestling Coach of the Year. This is Huynh's first year coaching at Chisholm Trail, but is his sixth year coaching in Texas public schools.
Huynh started as head coach at Round Rock McNeil in 2013 and helped create the first boys and girls wrestling program for Round Rock ISD. After McNeil, he was a part of the Southlake Carroll Dragons coaching team. He graduated from James Bowie HS and
wrestled for Hall of Famer Kevin Smith.
Staci Wilson, Boswell softball coach, has been named District Softball Coach of the Year. This is Wilson's fifth year coaching softball at Boswell and 14th year in public education. Wilson also attended Boswell as a student and played softball at Texas Wesleyan, where she received athletic and conference accolades. Wilson was the varsity assistant softball coach at Saginaw High School for eight years before coming to Boswell.
