Campus Reopening Update # 8 - Two Positives Found With Advance Testing Protocol
To ACPHS Community,

We have identified two students who have tested positive for COVID-19 as a result of our advance testing protocol that requires all faculty, staff and students to have a COVID-19 diagnostic test before the fall semester begins.

Both students, who attend classes on our Albany campus, are in isolation for the required 14-day period and will begin their fall coursework remotely.

One student tested positive before returning to campus and is in isolation at home. The other student was tested on our Albany campus upon arrival and is in isolation on campus. The limited areas the student was in are being cleaned and disinfected consistent with the CDC's protocol regarding cleaning after a positive case.

We immediately contacted the Albany County Health Department and contact tracing is underway.

To date, our College infection rate is 0.52%. This infection rate is low and consistent with the current New York statewide rate of positive tests of less than 1 percent.

Moving forward, if we have other positive cases, we will be sharing this information on our ACPHS Reopening Plan web page

As a reminder, students and employees returning to our Albany campus must get their COVID-19 test and submit their test result using this form by 8/26. Students and employees who do not submit their negative test result by 8/26 will not be allowed on campus until they do.

Students returning to our Albany campus using public transportation (i.e., train, plane) must be tested within 24 hours of arrival on campus and will need to follow additional precautions. Students arriving to our Albany campus from areas with quarantine restrictions must be tested within 24 hours of arrival, quarantine for 7 days, and get retested on day 7. Students can get this testing done on campus in the carport of the O'Brien building. For testing related questions, please contact [email protected].

All students and employees returning to our Vermont campus are required to have an on-campus COVID-19 diagnostic test between August 28 and August 29. The testing will be done on the Vermont campus through a partnership with the University of Vermont Medical System. Details and sign-ups will be sent directly to Vermont students and employees.

We will continue to do all we can to protect our ACPHS community.
