Dear Vanguard Families,
The Vanguard School secured the perimeter of both campuses this morning at approximately 10:30 A.M. due to police activity in the area. The situation has been contained and all staff and students are safe and accounted for. At this time our campuses are still secured. Travel in and out of both campuses is limited until further notice. We will update you if pick-up logistics are affected.
The situation involved one individual fleeing from police from another location in the area for an incident unrelated to the school. The school was notified by CSPD, and both campuses were immediately placed in a secure position (formerly known as lock-out). All staff and students were already secured in school buildings when the individual was seen on school grounds, and the individual immediately left campus when confronted by school officials. Police apprehended the individual as he exited school grounds. There was an officer-involved shooting off-campus. Police are reporting no known injuries or damage to our school facilities.
