Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues,
This evening, we’re holding our annual Student Awards Ceremony in the Student Center. Look for a complete list of winners on our website next week. Thanks to those of you who attended or participated in A Day of Celebration of Scholarship and Creative Expression last week. There were many incredible academic and creative projects on display in the library.
Last Friday, there was a shelter-in-place alert following a report of a handgun on campus. The individual was interviewed, and it was determined there was no threat to the community. Our response was led by the Emory Police Department and the Office of Critical Event Preparedness and Response (CEPAR). I know this event was upsetting to many of us, and I encourge you to continue to seek support from friends, family, and colleagues or from Oxford Counseling and Career Services, the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, or the Faculty Staff Assistance Program (FSAP).
As we look toward the end of the semester, we also prepare to celebrate the retirement of Kitty McNeill and Joe Moon. Kitty’s party will be in the library on Monday, April 24, from 3:00–5:00 p.m., and Joe’s will be on Friday, April 28 from 4:00–6:00 p.m. in Candler Hall.
Best regards,
Ken
