A note from the Dean
Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues,

Move-In Day is almost here, and we’re ready! Our new class arrives Friday followed by our second-years on Monday. They will join our international students, Ignite Leadership participants, and others who arrived early to complete our 2022-2023 Oxford community. I’m pleased to announce that Sarah Higinbotham will be our Coke Toast speaker, and we have a great Orientation Program planned to help all our students get acclimated and excited for the year.

Thanks to those of you who attended our Academic Retreat earlier this week. We had many productive discussions about our vision and goals for DEI, taking stock of our curriculum, and how we all can support the well-being of our students and each other. One of the main themes was how to cultivate community and belonging, especially after a couple of years where we haven’t been able to come together in person. In that spirit, I challenged each person to do one thing that helps to foster community and belonging over the next 30 days.

Convocation is a week from today, with Frosso Seitaridou set to give the address. It will be followed by our traditional Candlelight Procession—a beautiful event that we have not been able to host since 2019 due to the pandemic and last year’s inclement weather. I hope you will be able to attend as we come together, reflect, and celebrate the start of another academic year.

Best Regards,
Ken
