Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues,
I am officially settled in, and I hope you are all as excited as I am about the start of the new academic year. I admit that summer in Georgia is going to take some getting used to, but the campus is so beautiful that it almost makes me forget the humidity!
It was great to see some of you at the Summer Research Symposium last Wednesday. I enjoyed learning about the impressive work that has continued through the summer, and it’s always a pleasure to see how deeply students collaborate with faculty and staff.

My first week on the job, I also was able to attend an induction ceremony for two police officers who were sworn in to work on the Oxford campus.
On Monday, we welcomed our recently hired faculty members at New Faculty Orientation. Thanks to Molly McGehee and Susan Newborn for planning a smooth transition to Oxford and to all those who helped make them feel welcome. You can read more about each of them below.
I look forward to connecting with many of you at the annual Oxford Academic Retreat tomorrow and Friday at Lake Lanier. Together, we will plan for the busy year ahead and prepare to welcome students to campus a week from Friday.
Warmly,
Badia
