Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues,
This month, we are focusing on the #OxPrinciple of Learning—how we open our minds to knowledge and listen to the stories of those around us.
Speaking of learning, there are a number of events on campus this month that I encourage you to attend if your schedule allows. On Tuesday, February 7, President Greg Fenves will deliver his Emory Charter Week speech, which will be livestreamed in the Greer Forum of the Oxford Student Center. Please join us for light refreshments starting at 3:30 p.m.; the speech will start at 4:00.
A reminder that later that evening, also in the Greer Forum, our Chaplain’s Lecture Series will host Kate Bowler, New York Times bestselling author, podcaster, and professor at Duke University. Kate describes herself as an “incurable optimist,” and I think her message will resonate with all of us. I had the honor of appearing on her podcast in 2020 in an episode called “Living Alongside Fear.” Learn more about this Oxford Studies event below. No RSVP is required for students, faculty, or staff.
If you’re looking for a break from the cold weather, our firepits will be back out on the Quad soon. Stay warm!
Best regards,
Ken
