A note from the Dean
Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues,

Happy new year and new semester!

In addition to welcoming back our first- and second-year students, we are excited to meet our new Spring Start class. We launched this program last year and plan to continue to welcome students each January. We are looking forward to getting to know this year’s talented group—about 50 students who took the fall to travel, pursue a passion, or work before starting college. They will be moving in on Saturday, so be sure to say hello when you see new faces around campus next week.

As announced last month, Emory has moved its COVID testing to kiosks. Asymptomatic COVID testing will no longer be available in the Murdy Seminar room. The testing kiosk at Oxford is located near the Mail Center on Whatcoat Street. These kiosks may be accessed by anyone—not just the Oxford community—and are available 24 hours a day. Registration is required and can be done in advance at https://register.testandgo.com/ or by following the QR code prompts onsite. Video instruction on how to use the new Test-and-Go kiosks can be found here.

With gratitude,
Ken

STARTALK Arabic Program
Encourage your students to attend STARTALK, a four-week Arabic language virtual immersion program hosted by Oxford College for high school and college students (grades 9-14). The program seeks to strengthen students’ knowledge of Arabic language and Arab culture. The residential camp is held from July 12-28, and applications are due February 1.

STARTALK is designed for students with prior knowledge of Arabic and targets those at the intermediate level. The program enhances students’ knowledge of Arabic language and Arab culture through its thematic focus on the topics of food and festivities in the North African country of Morocco.
