A message from Kristin Bonnie, Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs:
Please share your congratulations with the following faculty who were approved for tenure and promotion by the Board of Trustees during their spring meeting:
Don Beaudette, Political Science, has been promoted to associate professor with tenure. Dr. Beaudette is a dedicated and engaging teacher, who teaches a variety of courses that enable students to think critically and apply their knowledge to real world problems. Students praise his mentoring, support, and generosity of care throughout their time at Emory. His scholarship explores the relationship between civil policing and counterinsurgency in Northern Ireland in particular. His current book project explores how and why insurgent groups engage in violence against civilians during times of conflict.
Teresa Romano, Economics, has been promoted to associate professor with tenure. Dr. Romano encourages and supports student development through a pedagogy that emphasizes iterative, inquiry-based learning and real-world applications. Students describe her as a phenomenal instructor and an excellent mentor, who builds student confidence and self-worth both in and beyond the classroom walls. As an applied microeconomist, Dr. Romano’s scholarship focuses on policy-relevant questions in the field of economics in education. Her research has been published in some of the top journals in her field. A dedicated teacher-scholar, she has consistently worked with student collaborators, both during the academic year and over the summer.
