Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues,
I hope you are enjoying these early days of summer.
Next week, from June 21 through 25, we will host our first-ever College Summer Experience Program, bringing together 60 rising high school juniors from Newton and Putnam counties for a distinctive college-readiness program. Students will live in residence halls and get a feel for campus life, sample college-level academics, learn how to navigate the college application and financial aid processes, and participate in activities designed to help them transition from high school to college. The students were selected by their school districts, and we are pleased to offer them this opportunity at no cost.
Just as we are committed to the growth of our Oxford students, we are dedicated to paving the way for the next generation of learners and seekers—no matter where they attend college. I hope this program will thrive and even expand in the future, giving a boost to those who don’t always have the opportunity or confidence to purse education beyond high school. Special thanks to Laura Gafnea and staff and faculty who will make this a special week for kids from our surrounding community.
You can read more about the program here.
Best,
Doug

With deep regret, I wish to announce Rhiannon Hubert's departure from Oxford College later this summer. As an Oxford alumna and member of the staff at both Emory College and Oxford College, Rhiannon has capably directed Oxford's Student Involvement and Leadership (SIL) department for eight years with great creativity, energy, and initiative. A recipient of Emory's Award of Distinction in 2017, and a terrific mentor of the talented SIL team, Rhiannon has been a top performer in Campus Life and a valued colleague for all of us who are fortunate to work with her. I could (and have) written much more about her many Oxford accomplishments but suffice it to say that she will be sorely missed at SIL and beyond. More information about her new role will be shared soon; we expect her to remain at Oxford through the first week of July.

|
Also, I am delighted to share that Veronica Roman will assume the role of Associate Dean of Campus Life and Director of SIL later this summer. Veronica is a 2009 alumna of Oxford and, after earning her master's degree at UGA, she returned to Oxford as Assistant Director of SIL in 2014. Veronica has proven time and again her value to SIL, to Campus Life, and to Oxford. Among other accomplishments, she created and manages the Learn to Lead program and the Ignite pre-orientation leadership program. Please join us in congratulating Veronica on her new appointment.
