Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues,
I’m sure I don’t need to remind you that next week is Spring Break (March 7-11). I hope you each are able to take time to exhale at this midpoint of the semester. Please check out today’s or tomorrow’s EaglePost for important information on campus dining and gym hours next week.
When we return, we’re looking forward to welcoming our junior and senior continuees back to campus for our inaugural Spring Festival on March 18. If you haven’t had a chance to check out the festival webpage and schedule of events, you can access that information here. I hope that faculty and staff also will encourage the juniors and seniors they taught or with whom they worked closely to attend. This will be the first time we will have four Oxford classes together on campus at the same time. I hope you will plan to join us.
Thank you for making Oxford a place where students are excited to return.
Best,
Doug

To learn more about the complex history of Emory’s founding and participate in conceptualizing a design for the memorials, please join a virtual engagement session on Thursday, March 3 from 6:00–7:30 p.m. Access the Zoom link here.
Emory is committed to honoring and memorializing the untold experiences, stories, and contributions of enslaved individuals and their descendants who lived and worked on the university’s original campus in Oxford, Georgia. Emory’s Twin Memorials Working Group is creating a plan for twin memorials that articulates and interconnects the shared histories of the Emory and Oxford campuses.
The first, and most important, step in this process is to hear from the community. In addition to Emory students, faculty, staff, and alumni, the university seeks input from descendants, neighbors, and local community members.
Emory has engaged the firm Baskervill to guide the community-engagement and design process. Through this work, and especially through your involvement, Emory begins the journey toward a more just and inclusive community.
