Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues,
I’m looking forward to celebrating the end of the academic year and all that our second-year students have accomplished in their time at Oxford.
This Friday, May 5, our annual baccalaureate will be held in Old Church from 5:00–6:00 p.m. Oxford Chaplain Lyn Pace will lead the service—an interfaith celebration representing the diverse faith traditions of our student body. All are invited to attend. After the service, you are each invited to a 6:30 p.m. reception in the Dining Hall with students and their families.
The following day, on Saturday, May 6, we’ll hold our 178th Commencement ceremony on the quad with a keynote address from our very own Dean Joe Moon. More details can be found in the email I sent to faculty and staff earlier this week.
Thanks, everyone, for a great semester, and I hope to see you this weekend.
Best regards,
Ken

A message from Kristin Bonnie, Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs:
I'm happy to announce that two of our teaching-track faculty have earned promotions, effective 9/1/2023. Congratulations!
Susan Riner, QTM, Teaching Professor
For more than forty years, Professor Riner has been "awakening joy in creative expression and knowledge" within thousands of Oxford College students. Students praise her mentorship and the ways in which her attention and care allow them to not only discover their passion, but also to succeed at something they had not thought possible. An agile and responsive teacher, Professor Riner incorporates student interests into her courses and continually introduces new technology and pedagogical tools. It is difficult to imagine what QTM 100 at Oxford would be today without her many years of dedicated service.
Michael Martin, Biology, Associate Teaching Professor
Described by students as an engaging, knowledgeable, and caring professor, Professor Martin has worked tirelessly to provide students with hands-on experiences to understand the process and value of science in a broader context. In his role as coordinator of the BIOL_OX 141 lab, he has made important and lasting improvements to the content and delivery of the course in support of his colleagues and the student experience. Beyond the classroom, Professor Martin is an active research scientist, champion for the natural world, and the star of his own children's educational show: Nature Time.
