Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues,
As I shared last Friday, I have accepted an offer to become President of my alma mater, Davidson College. I will stay on as Dean of Oxford through July. I am looking forward to these next few months with you all, especially these special days leading up to and including Commencement.
As Commencement festivities get underway, I want to remind faculty that you are welcome to attend the reception in Atlanta for Oxford students who are now graduating seniors. It will be in Emory’s Student Center from 3:00–5:00 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, May 5. If you live in the city or are up for the drive, I am sure your students would be excited to have you share this transition with them. You can even reach out to seniors you’ve remained in touch with ahead of time to let them know you’ll be there. You can register here.
As we celebrate our students’ achievements over the next week, I thank you each for all the ways you’ve helped them reach their goals here on campus and beyond.
Best,
Doug

Faculty and staff are encouraged to join us for Baccalaureate on Friday, May 6, at 5:00 p.m. at Old Church as we celebrate our sophomores during Commencement weekend. Zainab Salako will give the student reflection, the Oxford Chorale and Strings Ensemble will perform, and our student leaders will offer the prayers of the faiths.
Don't forget to RSVP to the Faculty Marshalls if you’re marching, otherwise you may simply show up. If you’re staying for the dinner following, please RSVP to Sarah Dobbs.
Old Church is about three minutes from campus, going north from the student center. Go two blocks past Haygood Hall, and Old Church will be on your left.
