Hi Wolverine Family,

We look forward to seeing those of you who will be in Ann Arbor this weekend for Family Weekend or the game at the “The Big House”.  UM Hillel is planning a robust program of activities centered on students and parents having a positive time together and enjoying our amazing Jewish life on campus. All of our events are below - feel free to join us!

I also want to update you that yesterday the Central Student Government (CSG) voted on a few resolutions related to the Israel-Gaza war. We are so proud of our campus community for rejecting the passage of a hateful petition that would have demonized Israel and further targeted the Jewish community at the University of Michigan. We want to additionally thank CSG members for proposing and adopting a resolution that acknowledges the hurt that many on our campus are experiencing due to the ongoing conflict and denounces the ongoing climate of fear and harassment on campus. That said, we are disappointed that CSG voted against a separate petition that would have called on our campus community and university leaders to support all students impacted by the ongoing violence in Israel and Gaza. These two petitions will be presented for a campus-wide referendum later this month and we will work tirelessly with students on “Get Out the Vote” efforts.

At Michigan, we are focused on keeping students safe and supporting them as they express their Jewish identities and support for the Jewish state. President Ono continues to set a positive example, showing his support for the Jewish community on campus–something we haven’t seen at many other Universities.

We are resilient and will continue to provide a place to celebrate Jewish life.
