A note from the Dean
Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues,

I hope you each had a warm and restorative Thanksgiving break.

As we near the end of the semester, there are several opportunities to celebrate the holiday season with the Oxford community.

The Dean’s Annual Holiday Party will take place this Friday, December 1, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. in Candler Hall. This is a great way to catch up with friends and colleagues. There will be a large spread of food and drink, and partners and immediate family are welcome to join the festivities. If you haven't already RSVPed, you can do so by 9:00 a.m. tomorrow—Thursday, November 30—here. I hope to see you there!

If you’d like to keep that holiday spirit going, later that same night, the Oxford Chorale and Chamber Ensemble will perform their holiday concert in Williams Hall at 7:00 p.m. You can purchase tickets from the OxBox here

Warmly,
Badia

How long have you been at Oxford?
I've been working at Oxford full-time for three years now but was a Graduate Assistant for three years before that. I was originally with athletics overseeing Athletics Communication and Events & Marketing. Now, I oversee Intramurals, Bike Oxford, and our Aquatics and Group Fitness programs.
What do you like best about your job and about Oxford?
As an alum and a former student-athlete, I enjoy being back at Oxford and helping our students navigate their way through the first two years of college. Being able to contribute to the students' experience and working with great people makes it even better.
What is your favorite song/tv show/movie/restaurant/podcast?
At the moment, I am listening to two podcasts: one by Andrew Huberman and the other by Gary Brecka. My favorite movies are anything related to Marvel or DC Comics. When I'm hungry, my go-to spot is Chipotle.
What makes you happy or brings you joy?
Easy, golf! I also enjoy being back home in Florida with family and going out on the boat.
Please complete this sentence: It might surprise people to know that I...
...was born in the Philippines, but was raised in Florida.

DEADLINE EXTENDED: Student Spirit of the Season Holiday Card Design Contest
Faculty and Staff — Please encourage your students to participate in this year's Holiday Card Design Contest! The invitation below went out to all Oxford students two weeks ago. THE DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO 5 p.m. FRIDAY, DEC. 1.

Dear Oxford Students,

We have many talented artists and photographers here on campus. If you have that artistic flair, we encourage you to enter our Spirit of the Season 2023 Holiday Card Design Contest. Each year, the Oxford Dean releases an official digital and print card as a season’s greeting to our friends in the Oxford community, and the winner will be featured on this year’s cover.

The contest is open to all Oxford students. Submissions may be an original photograph, drawing, painting, or digital artwork and must have an inclusive winter holiday theme. Also, we love to see ideas that use images of our beautiful campus.

Here are additional guidelines:

Any artwork that depicts copyrighted images will be rejected.
  • Size is 8.5” x 11” vertical or horizontal, color or black and white.
  • All entries must be digital and submitted in high resolution .jpg or .pdf formats to [email protected]. Non-electronic artwork must be digitized.
  • Submissions must be labeled with the student’s name, year, and contact information.
  • Entries that are not chosen for the card may still be featured on the Inside Oxford contest web page and on social media.
