Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues,
Earlier this week, faculty, students, and staff received an email reminder from the Provost to complete the National Assessment of Collegiate Campus Climate (NACCC) survey on Racial Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The results of the survey will help the entire Emory community gauge the racial campus climate. Although participation is voluntary, I hope each of you will take a few minutes to ensure that Oxford’s voice is heard so we can continue to cultivate a community welcoming to all.
If you have already completed the survey, please accept my thanks. And for those of you who have not yet filled it out, the deadline is Nov. 23. You can learn more about the survey here and take it here.
Best,
Doug

Exhibitions on campus: The Work Is Never Finished
|
|
The Oxford library has installed a new exhibit in the Fran Elizer Exhibit Space on the first floor. The exhibition is entitled The Work Is Never Finished: Building an Inclusive Archives.
For this exhibition, Oxford College Library’s Archives & Special Collections Team has selected a small number of records, publications, and artifacts to illustrate aspects of early Emory College and Oxford College history that have not yet been fully explored by researchers.
This exhibition provides insight into sensitive and troubling events in the college’s history. While great care has been taken to create space in the archives for the experiences of historically excluded and minoritized groups, especially the individuals named or involved in these events, the majority of the collections reflect the perspectives of privileged white men. Materials related to ongoing efforts to acknowledge the legacies of slavery and dispossession still impacting the institution are also included, providing opportunities to consider ways to transform present struggles through intentional and sustainable change.
We invite students, faculty, and staff to come visit the exhibit any time the library is open.
