A note from the Dean
Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues,

I’m proud to share that Oxford’s spirit of generosity was once again on full display during the 2O36 Giving Week. We received the most gifts and raised the second highest dollar amount across all Emory schools. Thanks to each of you who participated.

As we focus on Gratitude this month, I wanted to remind you of a great way to give back to our local community. The annual Emory Cares events will be held this Saturday, November 12, on the International Day of Service. There are three opportunities in the Oxford/Covington area to consider and share with your students:

  • The Nature Trail Clean-Up: 9:00–11:00 a.m. Meet outside Williams Gym
  • Care Boxes: 10:00 a.m.–Noon at the Oxford Student Center
  • Repairs of the Breach Thrift Store: 9:00 a.m.–Noon at Repairers of the Breach

To register for one of these events or to explore additional opportunities, including in Atlanta, click here.
November is also Native American Heritage Month, and along with the American Indian College Fund, Oxford is participating in the 35-mile Walk and Learn Challenge. Participants will walk a total of 35 miles over 30 days to raise money, advocate for Native students and their communities, and celebrate Native American Heritage Month. To register for the challenge and get a commemorative t-shirt, click here.

With gratitude,
Ken

How to update your directory profile, including your office location
A friendly reminder that all employees have access to log in and update their profile on the external directory (https://app.oxford.emory.edu/WebApps/Directory/index.cfm/search/).

  • The "Edit Your Profile" button can be found on the upper right corner of directory page.
  • Please log in with your NetID and password. You will be redirected to your information where you can update your profile, which includes title, office location, email address, and phone number.

We encourage all employees to maintain their directory information for accuracy. This process also updates the widely used Inside Oxford Office Directory list that can be found on the Faculty & Staff page under "Communications and Marketing".

Please Note: If an employee leaves Oxford, departments should also email Kristine Gonsalez to have them removed from the external directory.

Please reach out to Kristine if you have any further questions.
Write a note of gratitude to faculty, staff, and students
As we celebrate Gratitude throughout the month of November, stop by the Dining Hall between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on November 15, 16, or 17 and write a note to someone that you are grateful for this year.

If you can't make it to the Dining Hall, submit your note at this link, and it will be delivered all the same!
EmoryThanks Week
Monday kicked of EmoryThanks, a university-wide week of gratitude for everything made possible through philanthropy! It is through the generosity of donors that scholarships are possible, allowing students to attend and flourish at Emory University.

Thank you to the faculty, staff, and students who stopped by to write a thank you note to donors—more than 100 in all! If you still wish to participate by writing a note, drop by the Advancement and Alumni Engagement Office anytime throughout the month of November. The AAE team has some fun merch to share with you. We are grateful for all of you!

Emory Chamber Music Society of Atlanta comes to Oxford
On November 10 at 7:30 pm in Williams Hall, Oxford will host a concert featuring Soovin Kim, violin, and Gloria Chien, piano. The Emory Chamber Music Society of Atlanta is the Southeast's largest and most active chamber music organization.

Taiwanese-born pianist Gloria Chien has a diverse musical career as a noted performer, concert presenter, and educator. Chein made her orchestral debut at the age of 16 with the Boston Symphony under the direction of Thomas Dausgaard. She has also performed with the Boston Pops under the baton of Keith Lockhart.

Violinist Soovin Kim has performed with many of the major orchestras both in the United States and abroad. Kim maintains an active performance schedule in both the intimate recital setting as well as on some of the world’s most-celebrated concert stages. Currently, Kim serves as Visiting Professor in the Practice of Violin at the Yale School of Music and can be heard on recordings across multiple labels, such as Koch Discover International, Delos, and Azica Records.
