A note from the Dean
Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues,

I hope you are enjoying these fall days and cool nights. We are starting to focus in on the flu and how to keep it off campus this fall and winter.

Emory is requiring faculty, staff, and students to get a flu shot by this Friday, October 29. Please let me emphasize that each faculty or staff member, after receiving the flu vaccination, must complete Emory’s Flu Attestation Form affirming that they have received a flu vaccine (regardless of where they received it) and provide the date it was received—or request a qualified medical or religious exemption. Note that even if the vaccine was received through an on-campus clinic or through Emory Healthcare, faculty and staff must then submit the attestation form.

Thank you to those of you who have received your flu shot and completed the attestation form already. Together we will continue to keep our community safe and well.

Best,
Doug

Awards and Recognition: Men of Newton
Roderick Stubbs, Athletic Director and Head Men's Basketball Coach, was named one of the 20 "Men of Newton" for 2021 by The Covington News. The annual list, which honors the "most outstanding" men of the community, also included the late Judge Horace J. Johnson 77Ox 79B. Oxford's Language Hall was renamed Johnson Hall in his honor earlier this month.

Stubbs was recognized for his mentorship of student athletes and success on the court. Johnson, who passed away in July 2020, was lauded for his contributions to the community and his time on the Superior Court in the Alcovy Judicial Circuit, where he was the circuit's first Black judge.
