Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues,
This afternoon, Emory shared that a public scholarship center will launch at Oxford in 2024 with Ken Carter as founding director. The Center will provide faculty, staff, and students with the skills required to engage in public conversation, combat misinformation, and build trust in the value of scholarship. Read more about this exciting news here.
With the fall semester in full swing, there are several Oxford Studies events taking place over the next few weeks—and throughout the term. Later this evening, there’s a talk on “how and why we get curious,” and next Tuesday a discussion on “spirituality and art.” Please encourage your students to attend some of these programs, which are open to faculty and staff as well. See a full list of this semester’s offerings here.
You may have seen some signage around campus suggesting you download the Emory Safe app, and I second those messages. The app provides alerts on all things campus safety—from severe weather updates to emergency notifications—and will help keep us all safe and informed.
Warmly,
Badia
