Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues,
I hope everyone is doing well at this busy point in the semester. Next week, we’re hosting our annual Blessing of the Animals on Wednesday, October 4 at the Student Center Plaza from 1:00–2:00 p.m. You’re welcome to bring your pet(s)—or a picture of one or more from home. Chaplain Lyn Pace will share a few words on the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. You can read more and sign up below.
That same Wednesday from 11:30 a.m.–2:00 p.m., there is an Emory Thanks pop-up at the Dining Hall where you can take a photo or write a note of gratitude to our donors. I encourage everyone to stop by.
The coming weeks also offer several opportunities to get or stay active. CHL is hosting group fitness classes in the evening, including one only for faculty and staff on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:15–7:00 p.m. There is one more class in September before they pick back up in mid-October. You can register here. You also can join “Team Oxford” for the Winship 5K in support of cancer research on Saturday, October 7. Register here with a $45 donation or reach out to Chris Blake with questions.
Warmly,
Badia

National Science Foundation Grant
|
|
Please congratulate Devon Goss, LaTonia Taliaferro-Smith, and Sarah Fankhauser on their recent National Science Foundation grant. The $60,000 grant aims to explore the experiences and identity development of young historically marginalized scientists who publish their science research, which has previously been a privileged and white space. Their work will focus on specific experiences of young scientists, and this grant will further research on their understanding of how scientists and others participate in privileged cyberspaces.
