YOUTH SUMMIT 2021
Last week, we hosted a Youth Summit at our Ironside location which was open to local teens (13-17) who wanted to join in on the fun. This four-day event included group activities like meditation time, baking recovery cakes and painting in the park. Our staff also spoke to the youth about subjects such as relationships, substance use and teens, and a special talk by guest speakers, Common Thread, on human trafficking. We want to thank SSG Christopher J. Reyes with the Texas National Guard, Counterdrug Task Force for supplying the pedal cars and "beer goggles" to simulate for the youth what it is like to drive while under the influence of substances. We also want to thank the following community partners and friends for providing lunch during the week:
Starlite Recovery, Recovery Unplugged, Liz Todd and Roy Reina, who by the way, can make a MEAN burger! THANK YOU FOR FEEDING OUR HUNGRY, HUNGRY TEENAGERS! To learn more about what we have planned for the summer, visit our CALENDAR.

Rise Recovery Book Club
Looking for a good summer read? We want to share some of the newest and most recommended books by staff, leadership and YOU! If you have a book you recommend relating to mental health or substance use recovery, contact Becca via email at: [email protected].

Today, we are highlighting "Pops," an Amazon bestseller just released last week by the TODAY Show's, Craig Melvin, about his relationship with his father, who suffered with substance use disorder. Here is a video with Melvin, Al Roker and Carson Daly, who share a candid conversation about fatherhood. To all of those father's out there, Happy Belated Father's Day!
OUR COMMUNITY IS THE COOLEST!
Do you know the coolest company in town? San Antonio Air Service Experts have kept our community cool and running smoothly for 30 years!
