Dear Staten Island Academy Community,
As we head back from Winter Break and prepare to embark on a new year, I want to take a moment to express my deep gratitude for your unwavering support, dedication and commitment to our school community. The achievements and milestones we continue to attain are a testament to the collective efforts of our students, faculty, staff, Board of Trustees and parents.
Although many of us enjoyed a break from campus, our campus did not take a break. I am excited to update you on some campus improvements we have made these last two weeks.
We continue to enhance our security on campus; improving exterior security cameras and lighting in the parking lot areas, adding speed bumps to drop off and pick up areas, as well as, preparing to install an additional security booth in the back parking lot.
Our gymnasium floor has been completely refurbished. For those of you who played basketball or volleyball on the O.J. Buck Gym floor, you will be thrilled to know that those dead spots are gone, and the court looks beautiful. The center court Tiger is fresh and ready to support us taking on any opponent.
Our Reimagine Renaissance Campaign is moving forward as scheduled. Over the break, we have continued work in our auditorium; installing soundproof doors, electrical panels, fine-tuning projection and updating dressing rooms backstage. Our family bathroom on the main floor has been framed and ready for finishing touches.
Additionally, our library books are safely in a storage facility and the current library has been fully gutted. The work is underway for the installation of our Innovation Lab and our new 2D Art Studio.
Once that work is completed, we will move downstairs to renovate our new Library and Multicultural Center.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you would like a tour of the work that we are doing or if you would like to engage in conversation about the future work that we will be embarking on after this phase of the campaign. As an administration, faculty and Board of Trustees, we have been working to put forth a strategic plan and we would love to have your support in these initiatives.
As we look forward to 2025, let us embrace the endless possibilities and opportunities that await us. We will continue to build upon our successes, learn from our challenges and work collaboratively to ensure that Staten Island Academy remains a place of educational excellence in academics, arts and athletics all while being a supportive, innovative and inclusive school community.
Together, we will continue to foster a safe and supportive environment where students can explore their passions, develop their talents and grow as compassionate, responsible global citizens.
On behalf of the entire Academy family, I wish you and your loved ones a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year. May 2025 bring you joy, peace and abundant blessings, as we continue our journey together in educational excellence.
This is an extremely exciting time for our Academy Community. We might be celebrating 140 years of history in education, but we are definitely looking towards the future of in education! We cannot thank you all enough for your continued support.
