The City of Windsor is proud to be hosting the 2022 Can-Am Police-Fire Games July 25th-31st. This biennial, multi-sport competition, hosted by cities across North America, includes six days of family-friendly competitive events, promoting physical fitness and camaraderie among and between law enforcement, fire, emergency and protective service personnel, and their agencies. We’re inviting all local first responders to register and start planning to Work Hard, Play Hard in Windsor this summer. Windsor is well known as an exceptional location for major events, and as we prepare to deliver another world-class experience, all we need is YOU!

Our 2022 Games are particularly meaningful because they involve our Police, Fire, Corrections, Border and EMS personnel. The pandemic continues to highlight the tremendous commitment and dedication you bring to your work and to our communities. These Games draw visitors, benefiting our tourism and hospitality industry, businesses and our city’s overall economic well-being. They also provide us all with another opportunity to say, “Thank you.”

WINDSOR CROSSFIT the Official Fitness Training Partner of the Games

“Can-Am Police-Fire Games Gets Pumped Up”

Windsor CrossFit is stepping up to support first responders and commits to hosting the Bench Press and Powerlifting competitions during the Games. In addition, training staff will offer and provide strength training for local registered participants who compete in any of the 44 events, and together will challenge the community with fitness friendly fundraising events in support of Canadian Mental Health Association, the charity of choice for the 2022 Games.

Kim Dunwoody and Rick Tomicic, co-owners of Windsor CrossFit believe there is more to life than fitness, but fitness is the compass for our lives. If we can look a daunting WOD head-on, we can deal with the harder challenges that life throws our way. If we can cheer each other on at the end of a workout, we can understand the importance of community. If we hold each other to a high standard of performance, and a high standard of character, maybe we can have a trickle down effect in our family and friends. Windsor CrossFit proudly supports first responders and will help you achieve your personal goals leading into the 2022 Games.

SPECIAL OFFER

The Canadian Mental Health Association, Windsor-Essex County Branch is the lead provider and advocate of specialized community mental health and addiction services integrated with comprehensive primary health care services. Celebrating 50 years of service in 2021, the organization has expanded considerably over the years, but the one constant has been our commitment to respond to the mental health and wellness needs of our community.

Working with a variety of community partners, we ensure individuals are receiving the care they need, at the right time, from the right provider. Even prior to the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, the need for mental health and addictions services was significant, and has only intensified as we collectively deal with two years of health anxiety and isolation, which has led to greater rates of anxiety and depression, substance misuse and even suicide.

In 2019 CMHA-WECB was delighted to be selected as the official charity partner of the Can-Am Police-Fire Games. Recognizing the high levels of stress that accompany those that work on the front lines, CMHA-WECB formed a coalition with area first responder agencies, and have been working over these last 3 years to provide additional training, education and support specific to first responders and their families. “We Help First” now has a dedicated website and social media channels providing access to news, events and trainings.

We are proud of our partnership with our first responder agencies and the City of Windsor, and look forward to an exciting build-up to the Games in July, including hosting the Chief’s Luncheon, an online 50/50 lottery, a partnership challenge with Windsor CrossFit and so much more!

When you plan to visit Windsor, make sure you grab a slice of pizza while you’re here. You may not know it – but our pizza is known around the world as some of the best. We might be a bit humble about it –but it has won awards: Best in the WORLD in 2017 and Best in CANADA in 2018.

What makes it so special? It’s all about the shredded pepperoni, the locally made Gallati cheese, and the canned mushrooms.

When you visit plan to grab a slice or two. We’ve even got a club to celebrate the big 8 original members in the city.
