Dear Friend,

May is Foster Care Awareness Month, and I’ve been thinking a lot about the children in our community who are waiting—waiting for stability, for support, and for someone to stand by them.

At CASA Lake County, our incredible volunteers do just that. They are the consistent, caring adults who show up for children navigating the child welfare system. But right now, 27 children are still waiting for a CASA of their own.

We’re actively recruiting new volunteers, and that’s where you come in.

Do you know someone who would make a great CASA volunteer—or could it even be you?

If someone comes to mind, just hit “reply” and let us know. Someone from our team would love to follow up and share more. If you are not able to volunteer, please consider making a donation to help our recruitment efforts.

With gratitude,

With your support, in just the last month...

Kudos for Some Amazing CASA Volunteers!

To CASA Carey for recently becoming a CASA volunteer and accepting a case involving six children, ages six to seventeen. Carey has started intensive research on the needs of the children and is planning activities for each age group. Carey will be traveling about an hour and half each way for monthly visits. So grateful that Carey has become a volunteer.

To CASA Lindsay for her continued advocacy for her two CASA children. The oldest child, a teen, was very closed off and had very low self-esteem. Lindsay persevered in getting her to open up and to recognize her self-worth. Lindsay also encouraged her to share her feelings with people she deemed safe, as she was not willing to resume therapy. Lindsay has been a constant for the two children and their foster parents.

To CASA Tim who just wrapped up his first case with CASA. Tim was working with a fourteen-year-old boy who ended up being approved to move to Florida with his grandmother, who became his legal guardian. Although this transition did not go as planned and the minor was out of state, Tim stayed vigilant in trying to connect with the family and ensure a smooth transition to a new residence and school. Thank you, Tim for your work with this youth and for your commitment to accepting a new case!

Mission Statement

CASA Lake County exists to promote and protect the best interests of youth who have been found to be abused, neglected, or dependent. We train and empower volunteers to advocate for them in the courts and in the community to help them safely return to their families, or when not possible, help them achieve safe and permanent homes where they can thrive.
