Portion Control Can Make A Big Difference
Now that the holidays are over, many of us are making resolutions to lose weight or “get back in shape”. One simple way to manage weight is to be aware of your portion size. Cutting back on portions, even just a small amount per meal, can make a big difference. Here are some simple ways to visualize serving sizes.

  • 1 serving of fruit or vegetables= A baseball or the size of your fist
  • ¼ cup of dried fruit or nuts= A golf ball or a large egg
  • 1 oz. of cheese= 4 dice
  • 2 Tbsp. of peanut butter= A ping pong ball
  • One serving of a baked potato= A computer mouse
  • I serving of meat (3oz meat, fish, poultry) = 1 deck of cards
  •  ½ cup of food (for ex: pasta, ice cream) = A tennis ball

Give to AgeWell Services
AgeWell Services prepares and delivers 1,600 meals each day to Seniors in Muskegon, Ottawa and Oceana Counties, but the need for our services continues to grow daily. A donation of any amount can go a long way towards helping deliver hope to seniors.
Volunteering is also a great way to give to AgeWell. It is only through the dedicated service of our volunteers that we are able to meet the needs of so many seniors in our area. An hour a week can make a huge difference!
