Brooklyn-based modern furniture store West Elm completed a total remake of the rooms for youth programs at our Albany Houses Cornerstone on April 16th. It was another in a series of events the company's employees have participated in at CAMBA this past year. In January, volunteers from the company, including its president Alex Bellos, spent Martin Luther King, Jr. Day painting the rooms at the Albany Houses Cornerstone. Part of the company's core values is to give back to the community. As one Cornerstone youth described the transformation, "Before, it was dull and now it's really nice and comfortable...very chill."
Beautification in Bedford Stuyvesant

Volunteers from Neuberger Berman, a private investment firm, continued their three years of service at CAMBA by giving a much-needed paint job to the walls of two rooms at the CAMBA Cornerstone at Stuyvesant Gardens in Bedford Stuyvesant. Their effort is part of Neuberger Berman’s 10 th anniversary of Celebration with Service with 1,000 employees participating worldwide in similar events from April 29th-May 3rd.
Girl Scouts Bring Blessings to Kensington
Sophia and Isabella are six-year veteran Girl Scouts who brought bags of donations they call "Blessing Bags" of clothing, toiletries and other items to CAMBA's Kensington Family Shelter on April 19th. The girls are from the Christ Church Junior Troop 2088 in Bay Ridge Brooklyn, and part of their scouting mission is to perform a community-focused project. The Scouts made helping homeless women their priority--demonstrating girls helping girls.
Shopping For a Cause
Broadway House employees (center) Candace Bowen and Chia-Ling Kao join Alice & Olivia hosts at the fashion event.
What a beautiful spring evening it was at Alice & Olivia's Sip N Shop event held on April 3rd in SoHo. Trendsetting influencers Angela Yee, Caryn Prime, Tiffany Reid, Taylor Rooks, Claire Sulmers and Mashonda Tifrere hosted an evening filled with fun, food, cocktails, music, and most importantly shopping! Part of the proceeds from the event went to support CAMBA--specifically the Broadway House adult shelter.
Success at Prospect Park!
A torrential downpour in the morning did not discourage participants in the April 20th NYCRUNS Prospect Park 5K & 10K benefiting CAMBA. It was a smashing success and raised close to $45,000. These contributions help to provide holistic services, including college access programs for less fortunate youth, emergency food and housing for struggling families, as well as job training and employment assistance for New Yorkers, so they may attain financial security and safe and permanent homes.
