SURVEY REGARDING JOB OPENINGS SENT

I sent out a simple survey this week to start a discussion about the lack of workers for our members. I will have the results next week, but hope to have some dialogue with the schools and business leaders specific to our needs locally in Buffalo. Stay tuned.

We are hoping to see more people in the workforce after the unemployment COVID relief monies end this week. Hoping to also see more workers in the market once school starts back in person this year! Here is what DEED Commissioner Steve Grove had to say:

The state is expecting to see more Minnesotans heading back to work this fall and fewer people using unemployment benefits.
"Right now there's about 205,000 Minnesotans pulling in a weekly unemployment benefit. We expect that number to dwindle to less than 100,000 by the time October rolls around," Grove said.
The state also now has a team of people individually calling Minnesotans on unemployment insurance to try and connect them with open jobs.
Grove says it's a good time to be a worker in Minnesota.

NEW MEMBERS 2021
Montrose-Waverly Chamber of Commerce
145 Nelson Blvd
Montrose, MN 55363

We have met a few times with the President of the Montrose Chamber of Commerce - our own John Peterson from Johnson, Larson & Peterson- trying to come up with some working relationship to help the Montrose Chamber gain some momentum.

To start, the Board became a member, just so more eyes could see how we do things. Though we are the Buffalo Area Chamber of Commerce and do have some members from Montrose, we don't want to take them over but help them out! Welcome!
AMBASSADORS ON THE MOVE
BUFFALO DENTAL GROUP
1000 Hwy 25 S
763-682-2363

If you are like me, the dentist office is not your favorite place to visit, but we were welcomed by Barb Abel and crew as we made a stop at the dental office with the bear (now bears) - Buffalo Dental Group.

Buffalo Dental Group has 3 dentists - Joe Kuzma and Peter Lynch (both followed in their father's footsteps at the clinic) and Chase Liska with a combined 25 years of experience. They have 7 hygienists with a total of 23 employees! They offer preventative care, hygiene visits, oral surgery, implants, digital x-rays, cosmetic dentistry, teeth whitening, orthodontics and more.

The office has 10 patient rooms, a lab, and a lower level with meeting space, changing and laundry room and employee break room. The team meets every morning and has a morning huddle where they talk about the day's schedule and make each other aware of what the patients' needs are.
Thank you Business Manager, Barb Abel (with the office for 38 years) for the tour and goody bag!
Above is Ambassador Tina Anderson (Anchor Realty) and office staff Natalie, Barb and Ashley. See all the employees at the office. Below is the bear then and now celebrating Easter and in the middle is Barb, Tina and I going fishing! Hygienist Shelly Schutzle is the master decorator of the bears.

COMMUNITY HAPPENINGS
CRUISE, BREWS & QUE EVENT WENT WELL DESPITE THE RAIN!

Thanks to a whole list of folks who helped make last Saturday's event at Hayes' Public House a huge success despite some not so nice weather.

Besides Pugs and his crew, there was the FNG (Friendly Neighborhood Guys) BBQ and crew, the Buffalo Community and Arts Center crew in the info booth, several volunteers helping to serve food, the Mayor helping to pour the newest beer, member stores and restaurants that donated food and car show swag and more!

A total of $3489 was raised for the Buffalo Community and Arts Center. These funds will be used to increase awareness, finish the website and move forward in effort to create a combined Community/Arts Center for our wonderful community!

I was busy making walking tacos for a few hours - was great fun! Thanks to all who participated!
