Can Shared Interfaith Values Help Us Create a Better Society?
The InterFaith Leadership Council is a civic organization of clergy and lay individuals who are dedicated to working toward a harmonious community based on our highest and best values. One way that we put our mission to work is through unique interfaith educational programs for adults and young people. These programs bring people of different religious, racial and ethnic backgrounds together to learn about each other’s faiths and values. We teach that diversity is not something to fear but rather an opportunity to learn and expand. With curiosity and respect we can bridge differences in a positive way.
Professor john a. powell, director of the Othering and Belonging Institute at the University of California Berkeley, describes the alternative stories about societal changes that are prevalent today.
