Dear Friend,
We need your donation to help the young women who attend our Clubs go to Summer Camp.
Every year we provide summer programming to hundreds of children. From archery to swim lessons. From 3D printing to launching rockets. We go on hikes in our state parks and visit local colleges and universities.
Every year we provide scholarships to children whose only safe haven is our Clubs. We make sure the programming they receive during the school year continues through the summer.
But this year, we have a problem, and COVID-19 has made it much worse.
In the communities we serve, especially in Wakefield, we’re confronting some very difficult situations.
More kids are being bullied.
More kids are harming themselves.
More kids are attempting suicide.
While these numbers are rising everywhere, our own communities have significantly higher statistics than the state average and are higher than neighboring cities and towns in each of these categories.
This trend is mostly young women in our towns.
More alarming, we know all the statistics will get worse in the summer. They historically always do.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 has strained our budget and we cannot afford to provide camp scholarships to as many of the young women as we’d like to.
This is a community problem and as a community, we know we will fix it.
That’s why starting today, on International Women’s Day, and continuing into the summer, we’re going to focus on making the young women who attend our Clubs stronger, smarter, and more confident than ever.
We know we can do this because we’ve done it before, and we’re doing it now.
