Unfortunately, due to the probability of inclement weather Friday, the dedication event at the Hogtown Creek Headwaters Nature Park has been canceled.
At this time, there are no immediate plans to reschedule the dedication.
Instead, the team will work to complete the installation of nature center exhibits this month and next for the future enjoyment of all neighbors.
The City of Gainesville’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department and Wild Spaces & Public Places program are pleased to introduce the city's newest nature center.
Renovations on the circa 1890 farm house at Hogtown Creek Headwaters Nature Park were completed in 2021. The interior has since been developed into a nature center for the Gainesville community.
The renovation cost was approximately $478,000. Partial funding for the nature center was provided by Alachua County Wild Spaces & Public Places tax dollars.Click hereto view photos of the nature center’s renovation.
Collected from January 2017 to December 2024, the sales tax will continue to create, improve and maintain parks and recreational facilities and acquire and improve environmentally-sensitive lands. To sign up for updates, please visit www.WildSpacesPublicPlacesGNV.org.
