Top 3 ways to promote lymphatic health:
Your lymphatic system is an important part of your circulatory and immune function. Here are 3 simple ways to keep it healthy:
  • Stay well hydrated:
Good hydration is key to promoting good lymphatic flow. It is recommended that you drink about 6-8 cups of water per day. Remember that coffee and sodas do not count, as they tend to promote dehydration.
  • Deep breathing:
Stop and take 5-10 deep breaths 5 times per day to promote lymphatic circulation. This stimulate the largest lymphatic vessel in your body (the thoracic duct) to help move lymph fluid through your body.
  • Stay active:
Your lymphatic fluid moves through your body by the contraction and relaxation of your muscles. So the best thing you can do for your lymphatic system is to get up and move around throughout the day and exercise at whatever level is appropriate for you.

Are you at risk for lymphedema and want a lymphedema consult? Call or email CRA today and schedule a consult with our certified lymphedema therapist Dr. Angela Wicker-Ramos PT, DPT, CLT-LANA.

We would love your help!
Can you believe Cancer Rehab Austin is almost four months old? Being a new clinic we need help spreading the word so we can help more people move beyond cancer. Some ways you can help:
  • Let your medical practitioners know about us at your next follow up appointment.

  • Tell others in your cancer support community that we are here to help.

  • Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and share posts that you find interesting or informative.
