Baton Rouge, LA- Candidate qualifying for the Democratic State Central Committee (DSCC) and Democratic Parish Executive Committees (DPECs) will be open from December 7 through December 9, 2011. Interested candidates must file for both DSCC and DPEC at their local parish Clerk of the Court and pay a $112.50 filing fee to be on the ballot for the March 24, 2012 election. The same individual can serve on both the DSCC and a DPEC, and elected officials are also allowed to serve on both committees.
"I'm encouraging and asking Louisiana Democrats to join their State Party in its rebuilding effort by getting involved," said Louisiana Democratic Party Chairman Buddy Leach. "And a great way to get involved in the Louisiana Democratic Party is by running for State Central Committee or Parish Executive Committee. Strengthening our State Central Committee and ensuring we have active Parish Executive Committees in all 64 parishes is essential to building a strong and sustainable Democratic Party in Louisiana that will turn our state Blue again."
DSCC and DPEC members gain invaluable training, experience and political understanding and have access to the resources and tools that will prepare them to run for higher office themselves and also to recruit Democratic candidates from their parish community for local, state-wide and Congressional offices.
Those interested in running for either office can visit www.sos.la.gov/tabid/149/Default.aspx to download the qualifying forms. Interested parties can also contact the Louisiana Democratic Party at 225-336-0046 or via email at renee@lademo.org for more information.
