December 24, 2022
From what I hear, this may be one of those Christmases we remember with complexity. Pipes bursting, flights canceled, last-minute covid results, expectations dashed.

But one constant is our Christmas Eve service. A time to come together to hear beautiful music, hear timeless readings, and see each other’s faces reflecting the candlelight glow. Join us tonight at 6 pm at Live Oak UU Church.

“Complexity” hit Live Oak, too, in the form of a water junction on the second floor giving way and flooding the education wing (over Shir Ami and the nursery/prek rooms) last night. Tremendous gratitude to Diane Stepakof-Fay, Jason Fay, Tim Buckley, Sue Buckley, Becky McPherson, Wayne Gregory, and Mike Schultz who worked alongside members of Shir Ami and the Stem School to stop the flooding, and begin removing the water before the professionals arrived. Extra special appreciation to Diane and Jason who were at Live Oak until the wee hours, coordinating with our insurance company, directing the professional crew, and making plans with the restoration company.

(Again, the Christmas Eve service will be happening, in person and streamed, as scheduled.)

I look forward to seeing you tonight,

Rev. Joanna
