Sponsorship Opportunities Here

This year we celebrate innovation and honor our physician-partners and our heroes who give their very best to put an end to seizures and epilepsy. Throughout the year, as we help patients and their families, the Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California brings together exemplary physicians, researchers and epilepsy advocates. We work relentlessly to support treatment and research and to put an end to the stigma of epilepsy.

studyStanford Research Study Recruitment
Do you have seizures and difficulty with concentration, memory or thinking?
Stanford's Department of Neurology is currently conducting a trial investigating the safety and effectiveness of the stimulant methylphenidate (Ritalin), commonly used to treat attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder(ADHD), for the treatment of thinking problems commonly experienced by people with seizures. This study is sponsored by Dr. Kimford Meador and Dr. John Barry.  This study is currently looking for 30 individuals who suffer from seizures and have noticed any difficulties with thinking speed, focus, memory, or any other aspect of thinking to participate in a medication trial to see if methylphenidate can effectively treat these difficulties. In addition, we are seeking 15 individuals without a history of seizures to serve as healthy controls.

You may be eligible to participate if you are:
1) Between the ages of 18-60
2) Have relatively well-controlled seizures,
3) Have noticed any problems with thinking, memory, attention, or any other thinking problems, and
4) Your anti-seizure medications are not expected to change in the next few months

This study will require five visits to Stanford Medical Center over the course of ~2 months. A total of up to $200 compensation is available for these visits.
