Twenty-five first responders, medical professionals and frontline workers will be recognized by personal gifts from Cane River Pecan Company shipped across the nation Monday, April 13, 2020.
Requests for nominations of family members resulted in submissions from coast to coast. Cane River Pecan Company plans to follow up this first shipment with more nominations and additional acts of appreciation.
“We might do another flight because this was so successful,” said Jady Regard, "Chief Nut Officer" and founding family member of Cane River Pecan Company located in New Iberia. “Using
social media
platforms we asked for nominations and received more than 5,000 views, 160 nominations and then selected 25 recipients.”
Shipments of Cane River Pecan cookies will be delivered with notes of thanks and recognition of their nominating sponsor from Pennsylvania to Oregon as well as Acadiana. The local business didn’t know what to expect when they suggested their customers recommend a family member or friend working tirelessly on the front lines fighting the coronavirus/ COVID-19 pandemic.
“Most of the nominations came from our local customers, but the names represented locations across the nation,” said Regard. “We want to do even more to acknowledge the people involved and are working now on capturing video messages about these heroes. Messages from the people that nominated them and why will be posted on social media.”
