Greetings,
As Thanksgiving approaches, our hearts naturally turn toward gratitude. But for parents, this season is also a beautiful opportunity to teach our children that thankfulness isn’t just for one day — it’s a way of life.
In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, we’re reminded to “give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Notice it says in all circumstances, not for all circumstances. Gratitude isn’t about pretending everything is perfect — it’s about recognizing God’s goodness even when life feels hard.
When we pause to thank God for simple blessings — a warm meal, laughter around the table, a hug from a child, or the joy of family — our children learn that gratitude begins with noticing. Every “Thank You, God” we whisper becomes a seed planted in their hearts. Over time, those seeds grow into a spirit of contentment and joy that no circumstance can shake.
This Thanksgiving, take a few moments as a family to share what you’re thankful for — big or small. Pray together, thanking God for His faithfulness and love. As your children hear you give thanks, they’ll learn that gratitude is more than words — it’s worship.
I pray that you'll take the time to be intentional with your children this season about thankfulness and that you yourself will bask in the greatness of our God and His amazing provision for you.
All for the children,
Jenna Morris
