Granting Holiday Wishes

The Canton Public School District's Business Department  granted one needy child's holiday wish. Jha'Kim  Huffman's home was destroyed by fire, but CPSD Business Office employees were determined to make sure his spirits still burned brightly during the holidays. The employees asked the Goodloe Elementary student what he wanted Santa to bring him for Christmas and made sure he was not disappointed. His mom, Kimberly Dawson, and Jha'Kim say they were grateful for the gifts and support from employees. Business Office employees say they were overjoyed to bless Jha'Kim with the gifts to warm his heart.

Christmas Around the World

Add a description

A surprise visit from Santa and his elves excited students at Reuben Myers Canton School of Arts and Sciences. Students were reminded if they were naughty and not nice all year long, they would get a lump of coal instead of their wishes granted. The students also performed their play "Christmas Around the World" and sang carols to the excited crowd of students and parents.

Polar Express Pajama Parties

It was a pajama party for Students at Canton Elementary and Reuben Myers Canton School of Arts and Sciences as they watched the movie The Polar Express. Students were treated to hot chocolate, brownies and other treats as teachers helped make the book they have been reading come to life. Teachers and students wore their pajamas to school for the event.  The Polar Express, a  computer-animated Christmas fantasy film based on a children's book, is filled with dancing waiters who dispense hot chocolate on a train headed to the North Pole as it weaves an exciting plot filled with action and adventure. Students say they enjoyed the movie and are encouraged by the adventures found in reading good books.

Canton Elementary Holiday Celebrations

Canton Elementary students dazzled parents with outstanding performances from their choir, cheerleaders and drummers. Students and their families also took pictures with Santa. Students helped usher in the  holidays with their festive spirit. PTA President Albert Jones encouraged more parents to get involved and support their children by joining the PTA. Principal Shalondia Washington reminded students to keep learning by completing their homework assignments over the holiday break.

SPOTLIGHT:  School PTA/PTOs Show Appreciation

Nichols Middle School PTO showered gifts of love and appreciation on students and staff for the holidays. PTO President Irma Meeks spearheaded the event. She along with PTO volunteers, provided teachers and staff with a special holiday breakfast and gifts. The group also provided treat bags to students. The PTO  also rewarded students with a party for participating in fundraisers at their school. The money raised will help provide incentives  to encourage academic excellence and reward positive behavior throughout the school year. When students returned from the holiday break, Meeks and her team of volunteers delivered hand sanitizer, paper towels, and other schools supplies to teachers and students. The PTO also rewarded the Teacher and  Student of the Month

with incentives. Teachers and students thanked Mrs. Meeks and the PTO for their gifts of love and their devoted efforts to make a difference in their lives.

Canton High's PTO expressed their appreciation for teachers and administrators by giving them gifts and requested school supplies. PTO President Bessie Archie applauded CHS' staff for their hard work. She encouraged more parents and teachers to pay the $5.00 membership fee to join the PTO and continue working together to provide incentives and other needed support to students and staff to increase academic performance at CHS. CHS Principal Timothy Chambers, parents, and teachers thanked Archie for her devoted leadership and relentless efforts to improve student achievement.
