The Boys and Girls Track and Field Team won another 3-5A Divisional Championship on Monday April 20, 2015. Porter Middle School girls and Nichols Middle boys won the 1st Annual Central Mississippi Junior High Championship on Tuesday April 21.
Canton High Tigers brought home first place honors in the North State Track Meet in Oxford. Girls first place winners include: Jamelia Owens in the shot put and discus throw; Aireanna Taylor in the 400M dash; and Catera Watson in the long jump. Boys first place winners include Devie Freeman in the 200M dash and the 400M dash and Bralon Robinson in the 100 M dash.
Tiger becomes a Bear
Canton High Lady Tiger Shelby Taylor signs with Southwest MS Community College in Summit during National Signing Day. Taylor says she looks forward to continuing her education by majoring in Communications and becoming a Sports Broadcaster. Her parents Dwight and Sheila Taylor say they are extremely proud of their daughter's accomplishments and are thankful she will receive a full scholarship to continue pursuing her dreams. Taylor thanks all of her coaches for their guidance, support and nurturing over the years. The reigning Miss CHS has been actively involved in her school and community. Taylor, an honor roll student, is captain of the girls basketball team, president of CHS' Jobs For Mississippi Graduates and an active member of Priestly Chapel M.B. Church. While she says she will cherish her time at Canton High, she looks forward to a bright future as a Southwest Bear.
