A final message from this year's SGA President -
“Dear Nathan, Congratulations! You have been admitted to the ASMS Class of 2022.”

Those were the words I read from my decision email in 2019. I can still remember the rush of excitement and nervousness that I felt through my body during that moment. Freshmen year Nathan was so excited to start a new chapter of his high school life at ASMS, but I don’t think he realized how fast time would fly by.

Now, I’m a nostalgic senior who is closing this part of my life with “lasts" -- last spring term, last weekend on campus, last day of class. The list goes on and on, but what makes saying goodbye to ASMS so bittersweet is the community that I have been with for the past 3 years: the friends who I have spent countless days making memories filled with so many emotions; the teachers who have always facilitated such a supportive, uplifting environment that made me want to learn every day; and the faculty who has always challenged me to become better than who I was before. I want to say that I am truly grateful for everyone who has contributed to making my high school experience unforgettable. As I prepare to start a new chapter at MIT this upcoming fall (go beavers!), I’ll forever cherish my time here at ASMS.

And before I go, I want to congratulate my fellow classmates, the Class of 2022 (aka the best class)! WE FINALLY MADE IT! I’m so proud of everyone, and I can’t wait to see all the amazing things we will do in the future. See you at graduation!

With much love,
Nathan Kim, your SGA President

FLASH
Dr. Rambo's AP Chem class chose to team up to complete their AP Chem Creative Concept project assignment. They recently performed a chemistry flash mob in the cafeteria!
Deconstructed Shakespeare
ASMS Shakespeare students did "deconstructed Shakespeare" presentations! They took scenes or soliloquies and reworked them to call attention to a modern issue. Marcus, Maddox, Wesley, and Frederick reworked a scene in Macbeth to make a statement about gun violence. Grace is did one of the speeches from Much Ado About Nothing to illustrate an empowered woman. Myra and Audrey replayed the wedding scene from the same play with a similar theme. Becca, Praveena, and Chinonye performed an original work largely written by Becca that combines parts of Macbeth with Twilight to illustrate the thin line between tragedy and romance. Kaylie and Matheson rewrote the "double, double" witch scene from Macbeth portraying the witches as tech savvy tik-tok personalities hired by Lady Macbeth.
ASMS in the Community
The ASMS Ignite Club volunteered at The McKemie Place this past weekend by pulling up weeds, hedge trimming, sidewalk edging, and painting. They plan to go back next year!
