AWAKENING THE LEGACY CANOE
In celebration of our 50th anniversary, Capilano University commissioned Squamish Nation master carver Ses siyam (Ray Natraoro) to build a traditional Coast Salish canoe as a legacy to future generations. The 30-foot-long sea-worthy canoe symbolizes the University’s commitment to Truth and Reconciliation.

Please join us on Thursday, April 11 at 2 p.m. in the Birch Building cafeteria for a special ceremony to awaken and name the legacy canoe.

ALUMNI HOMECOMING
Capilano University welcomed more than 50 alumni, former employees and community members at the Alumni Homecoming at the k ála x -ay Sunshine Coast campus on March 23. Guests reconnected with old friends, shared memories and were treated to a champagne reception with live jazz music.

ILLUMINATING BIRCH
Nighttime visitors to the University’s North Vancouver campus will find a colourful welcome. A permanent lighting installation on the Birch Building was unveiled at CapFest, the University’s 50th anniversary celebration.

Currently, the building is illuminated in hues of green and blue; however, dynamic themes and colour palettes are being developed for special events such as New Student Orientation, Convocation and Blues home games.
