Congratulations to the Class of 2023!

Cape Cod Academy’s 47th Commencement Ceremony was held today, June 9th. We wish our graduates the very best as they begin their college careers at outstanding schools. See the full list of colleges where our students are headed.
Senior Bereket Nelson was selected by the Class of 2023 to give the Senior Address.
Mary Gail Wareham was recognized for 25 years of service at Cape Cod Academy.

Special award ceremonies and student presentations that featured accomplishments and accolades from this past year took place this week at Cape Cod Academy.

Students Inducted into the Cum Laude Society
Three Cape Cod Academy students were inducted into the Cum Laude Society during Awards Day on Monday. CCA’s Cum Laude Society inductees are juniors and seniors who have achieved exceptional grade point averages, have been very involved in the school community, and are students that exude excellence, justice, and honor. This year’s inductees are:

The Cum Laude Society is a national organization honoring scholarship and scholastic achievement. Cum Laude Society membership is considered the highest scholastic achievement at schools nationwide.
Awards Ceremony
Cape Cod Academy's annual Awards Day has held on Monday, June 5. The ceremony began with the presentation of College Book Awards. These awards were given to current juniors by Meghan Farley, Director of College Counseling. Following the Book Awards, students were recognized with Department Awards, Student Council Recognitions, and the Academic Excellence Award.

Book Awards Presented to Juniors
Every spring, colleges and their alumni seek to recognize high school juniors who have worked especially hard and achieved scholastic success at a high level. By awarding these books, they hope to honor the accomplishments of these students and to encourage them to think of themselves as potential students at that college or university. Department Awards & Student Council Awards
Department Awards were presented to seniors from various faculty members. Read the list of recipients of Department Awards here.

Phil Kenney, Director of Accountability and Humanities Faculty, presented the Student Council Award. Jeff Thompson then presented the Academic Excellence Award. The ceremony ended with Hannah O'Dowd, Yearbook Editor, dedicating this year's edition to Jessica Barbieri, Director of the Middle & Upper School.
Eighth-Grade Awards
The eighth-grade students shared reflections of their middle school experience with family and friends. This was followed by the presentation of awards.

The Eighth-Grade Community Award was presented to Olivia Jatczak. This award is presented annually to the eighth-grade student who in his or her growth, best exemplifies the quality of wit, talent, and kindness. Quintin Duquette '23 won the award has an eighth grader and so presented this year's award to Olivia.
The Larry Brown Compassion Award was presented to Olivia Calise. The award is given to the middle school student, who in the estimation of the middle school faculty, demonstrates the characteristics of tolerance, charity, and good will- the exact characteristics that Mr. Brown, former faculty member, was known for during his 33 years at Cape Cod Academy. Mr. Brown attended the ceremony and congratulated Olivia.
Fifth-Grade Memoirs
Our fifth-grade students enjoyed a special moving-up ceremony where each student shared their memoirs with parents, friends, and faculty.
Middle Schoolers Presented
Independent Learning Projects

Middle school students made presentations on their special-interest projects as part of their Educational Exploration, or E2 course. This program gave them an opportunity to explore a topic, concept, or issue that falls outside the boundaries of typical middle school courses. Topics presented by our middle school students:

Each year, Cape Cod Academy seniors dedicate their last weeks of school working on dedicated projects or internships that support the greater community. Their projects culminate in presentations of their work to families, faculty, and classmates.

All-School Field Day Was A Great Success

Our All-School Field Day held on Tuesday was enjoyed by all students, faculty, and staff. CCA's Rock Band kicked off the festivities, which was followed by a delicious cookout and fun, competitive games. This year, Team Blue came out slightly ahead with 183 points to Team White's score of 172.

Students' Summer Work

Summer work for all divisions will be available the end of next week by clicking on 'Summer Work' on the top menu of Cape Cod Academy's homepage or on the Resource Board when you log in. If you have trouble accessing the work, please contact: Laura Curry at lcurry@capecodacademy.org.
CCA Summer Hours & Communications
 
If you would like to reach us over the summer, school hours are Mondays - Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. We are also offering tours to prospective new families, so please share this information with your friends. Tours can be set up by emailing admissions@capecodacademy.org.

Watch your inboxes over the summer for notifications about back-to-school forms that will need to be completed. We will also be sending details about transportation, health forms, school supplies, dress code, pre-season athletics, and more.

We Are Collecting Books for CCA's Book Exchange

Cape Cod Academy is now holding a Book Exchange. Families are invited to stop by CCA on Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to pick out used books for next year. If you want to know if a specific book title is available, please call the receptionist at 508-428-5400.
 
If you have class books from previous years that you would like to donate, please drop them off at the reception desk. Donations include any and all textbooks in addition to novels that students read during class. We would like to include your books in CCA’s Book Exchange.
Boys' Varsity Tennis Team Advanced to the Elite 8

Congratulations to our Boys' Varsity Tennis Team for making it to the Elite 8. After a great run, they lost to Wayland High School earlier this week. We are very proud of our team!
Cape Cod Academy is the Place to Be This Summer!
 
Cape Cod Academy is offering weekly camps from June through August. From traditional swimming, arts & crafts, science, and technology experiences to sports camps and wellness classes, Cape Cod Academy is the place to be.

Cape Cod Academy’s Summer Programs will continue in partnerships with multiple sports camps, including Cape Cod Elite Basketball, Red Sky Sports Academy, Steel Soccer, Liverpool FC International Academy (soccer camp), Gamebreakers Lacrosse, and Revolution Field Hockey camp.

New Summer Programs Recently Added
 
Science & Magic Camp
Children ages 9-12 will enjoy creating homemade experiments in one of Cape Cod Academy’s classrooms and outside on the campus. They will be conducting various experiments, including mixing colors, learning about density, and creating their own non-Newtonian fluid that does not follow Newton's law of viscosity.

Marine Explorers Conservation Group
A fun and educational experience where students entering 2nd through 7th grade will learn the importance of maintaining a balanced ecosystem while enjoying the local Cape Cod beaches. Kids will enjoy a unique experience that combines outdoor exploration with an in-the-classroom look at the diversity of the local marine life. 
 
Introduction to Animation
Students ages 10-16 will learn the basics of animation the old-fashioned way: drawings on sheets of paper that are photographed one frame at a time.
 
Art & Painting Club
For children ages 3-5, these painting classes will be held indoors and outdoors on CCA's campus. Painting sessions will have different themes daily and weekly themes, including
splatter painting, finger painting zoo, paint my t-shirt, and flower & nature painting.
 
Journalism
Learn how to be a junior journalist. Students ages 7-10 will interview friends, learn how to write really well, and craft weekly articles about events.
 
Artificial Intelligence Camp and Game Design Camp for Kids
Students ages 6-12 will learn how to use artificial intelligence (AI), gain access to a suite of tools that can help with homework, build familiarity with the new AI world we’re moving into, and understand when and when not to use this powerful new tool. Additionally, students ages 5-10 taking Game Design will learn the skills of a coder through conceiving, designing, and creating their own mobile app games.
 
Swimming for All Ages
Private and group swimming lessons are available throughout the summer. Check out the details for swimming lessons here.
Tutoring
One-on one academic tutoring will be available in many different subjects, including reading, writing, math, and science. Taught by highly qualified, trained instructors, these programs are tailored for students entering kindergarten through grade 12 and are open to all students regardless if they attend CCA or another school.
