MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS
Middle School Dance

Cape Cod Academy middle school students enjoyed their semi-formal dance last Friday.
Sixth Graders Enjoy Field Trip & Gladiator Maneuvers

This week, our sixth graders headed out on a walking field trip to visit various spots in Osterville. They enjoyed birdwatching and learning Latin names of birds at Joshua’s Pond and Armstrong-Kelley Park, they sketched buildings and small-town scenes, and they stopped for ice cream before returning to campus.
Ms. Hagler's sixth-grade students participated in gladiatorial maneuvers as part of an introduction to Latin classes. Students completed a research project on Roman gladiators, and a component of the project was to make cardboard armor inspired by their research.
LOWER SCHOOL NEWS
Citizen of the Week
Charlotte Calise '29

Charlotte is always willing to help with any task and volunteers often. She helps with check-in in the morning as well as escorting some of our youngest students to where they need to go. She has been a level head and hard worker in her group for the final project in world languages and cultures, and she has been instrumental in keeping her group mates on schedule for work, definitely checking the "scholarship" box. Charlotte has also been a big help organizing the chrome books in the media center. Congratulations, Charlotte!
Fifth-Grade Trip to Nantucket

CCA fifth graders traveled to Nantucket yesterday to visit the historic African Meeting House. They enjoyed a docent-led tour, which highlighted the history of this restored structure. In the 1800s, the African Meeting House was used as a school for African Americans. It also served as a church, a community center, and safe house on the Underground Railroad. This trip was the capstone event of the fifth-grade humanities unit on the Underground Railroad and the Abolitionists' Movement.
One Week Left of After-School Sports

Next week is our last session of after-school sports for this school year. Coach Marvullo will be heading up a Field Day Games session so that lower school students can practice skills in preparation for Cape Cod Academy's all-school Field Day on Friday, May 27. Next week's program runs Monday, May 16 - Thursday, May 19 from 3:00-4:00 p.m.

Girls' Lacrosse Coach Heads to National Tournament
Cape Cod Academy's Girl's Lacrosse Coach, Samantha Ziehl, has been selected to be a coach for a MA/RI regional team at the USA Lacrosse Women's National Tournament this year. This is her third time coaching in the USA Lacrosse National Tournament. She will be coaching in Bel Air, MD over Memorial Day Weekend. Congratulations, Samantha!
