Artwork from CCA Students Selected for Special Exhibition at Cape Cod Museum of Art
Four students from Cape Cod Academy were chosen to be part of the Through Young Eyes exhibit at the Cape Cod Museum of Fine Art. This annual show is presented by the Cape Cod and Islands Art Educators Association (CCIAEA) and features students' work from participating members/teachers. This year, the following students from CCA were chosen:
  • Yoana Dokleva ’24 for her ceramic bust of Frida Kahlo
  • Hope Carty ’21 for a digital illustration from her AP Art Portfolio showing the grip that mental illness can hold over young women
  • Lila Harden ‘26 for her 11x17 opaque watercolor painting of a still-life scene with a skull
  • Lila Rumpf ’27 for her two-color collagraph print of an underwater scene

The students’ work will be on exhibit from February 11 – April 18, 2021 at the Cape Cod Museum of Art, 60 Hope Lane, Dennis, MA. More information is available here.
Valentine's Day Celebrated at CCA

This week, Student Council members coordinated with CCA's Parent Association to hold a candy sale to celebrate Valentine's Day. Community members of all ages purchased candy bags and handmade chocolate lollipops and had them sent to friends, fellow classmate, and teachers on campus. Many thanks to all the students who worked so hard to carry out this enjoyable community event.

Please Participate in 'Lunch on Us' as Part of
Teacher Appreciation
Lunch on Us is a long-standing tradition at CCA. During Parent-Teacher Conferences, CCA families provide lunches for faculty and staff during these very busy days. On Friday, February 26, there will be Parent-Teacher Conferences taking place for lower school families, and it will be a Professional Development Day for teachers, faculty, and staff. They will be on campus working without the students in attendance. We are asking for parent volunteers to help supply lunches for teachers on this day.

If you are inclined to participate, please provide as many bag lunches as you wish. For allergy reasons and the ease of "grabbing and going", please write what is included on the outside of the lunch bag. For example, write: "soup, salad, or sandwich with fruit, chips, or cookie, and a beverage". Gluten and vegetarian options are also appreciated. Please note that many local places (like Fancy's and Pineapple Caper in Osterville) make bag lunches and will deliver them to CCA. Lunches should be dropped off by 11:30 a.m. on February 26 to the Reception Area in Chope Commons (a cooler will be supplied).

If you are able to participate, please RSVP here and include in the comments how many lunches you are able to provide so that we can be sure we have enough for everyone. This tradition is deeply appreciated and gratefully anticipated by the teachers. Thank you for your support.
CCA's C.A.M. Club Hears Stories of Activism from Cape Cod Voices

This week, Cape Cod Voices gave a virtual presentation to our Cultural Awareness of Minorities (C.A.M.) group. CCV leaders shared their stories of activism and listening events around experiences with racism on Cape Cod. Listening to their stories, our students gained a wider understanding of what some members of the Cape Cod community experience. CCV is a community organization dedicated to advocating for people of color on Cape Cod and the Islands.
Sixth-Graders Celebrate Valentine's Day

During Advisory this week, CCA sixth-graders created Valentines with words of encouragement and decorated the Middle School Lounge with them.
Middle & Upper School Music is Alive at CCA

Middle School Strings are back! Lary Chaplan will lead the Middle School String Ensemble, which began this week. The group will meet Tuesdays and is open to any middle schooler. In addition, Roger Gamache has been busy teaching middle school music classes and leading the Middle School Jazz and Rock Ensemble and the Upper School Rock Ensemble, which are open to all students, grades 6-12. For more information or if you would like your child to join, please contact Lary (, Roger (, or Nancy Boyle (

Calling All Actors!
Jan Rapp will be directing an after-school middle and upper school drama production. Students will use costumes and props and performers will design and paint background sets. The four-week program will culminate in a live/taped Zoom production of Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.This is open to any student in grades 6-12. For more information or if you would like your child to join, please contact Jan Rapp ( or Nancy Boyle (
Parents of fifth-graders are invited to join Cape Cod Academy faculty for an introduction to CCA’s middle school. Teachers and staff will discuss classes, culture, and answer parents' questions. They will also discuss some of the significant differences between lower school and middle school.

Although this will be an in-person event, we recognize that some parents are not comfortable with coming to campus. We will, of course, adhere to strict screening, distancing, disinfecting, ventilation, and interaction guidelines for this small event. For those parents who prefer not to attend in person, we will work to create a virtual representation of the information and share it.
