Boys Basketball: Greenleaf Sets Scoring Record and Team Clinches Title
Congratulations to our Boys Varsity Basketball Team who defeated Sturgis East on Tuesday to claim the Cape and Islands League title. Additionally, CCA junior, Jaeden Greenleaf, made history with a three-pointer right before halftime, making him the all-time leading boys basketball scorer on Cape Cod.
Pictured left to right: Coach Adam Rose, Jaeden Greenleaf, and Jaeden's father, Seth, immediately after Jaeden made history, breaking Chatham graduate Christian Messersmith’s record of 1,705 career points.

It is interesting to note that Coach Rose is not the only member of his family to be connected to a scoring milestone. Adam’s father, Glenn Rose, set the all-time boys record at Harwich High School in 1962, and Christian Messersmith broke the record when Glenn was his coach. As Coach Rose said, “My dad had it, Christian played for my dad, and now I get to coach the young man who has been obviously the cornerstone of our program for the last four years and has deserved everything that he’s gotten.”

Please Sign Up for 'Lunch on Us' as Part of
Teacher Appreciation
Lunch on Us is a long-standing tradition at CCA. During Parent-Teacher Conferences, CCA families provide lunches for faculty and staff during these very busy days. On Friday, February 26, there will be Parent-Teacher Conferences taking place for lower school families, and it will be a Professional Development Day for teachers, faculty, and staff. They will be on campus working without the students in attendance. The Parents Association is asking for volunteers to help supply lunches for teachers on this day.

If you are inclined to participate, please provide as many bag lunches as you wish. For allergy reasons and the ease of "grabbing and going", please write what is included on the outside of the lunch bag. For example, write: "soup, salad, or sandwich with fruit, chips, or cookie, and a beverage". Gluten and vegetarian options are also appreciated. Please note that many local places (like Fancy's and Pineapple Caper in Osterville) make bag lunches and will deliver them to CCA. Lunches should be dropped off by 11:30 a.m. on February 26 to the Reception Area in Chope Commons (a cooler will be supplied).

If you are able to participate, please RSVP here and include in the comments how many lunches you are able to provide so that we can be sure we have enough for everyone. This tradition is deeply appreciated and gratefully anticipated by the teachers. Thank you for your support.
Schedule Your Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher Conference Day for lower school families is next Friday, February 26 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There is no school for all students that day, K through Grade 12.
Appointments with lower school homeroom teachers are 20 minutes each. You may begin scheduling your conferences now. Instructions for creating your appointments are outlined here.
Introduction to Middle School
For Parents of Fifth-Grade Students

Once again, the weather forecast impacted our Introduction to Middle School event that was to take place yesterday. We postponed the event and rescheduled it for next Tuesday, February 23 at 6:00 p.m.
Next week's meeting will be conducted in person, and we will adhere to strict screening, distancing, disinfecting, ventilation, and interaction guidelines. For those parents who prefer not to attend in person, we will work to create a virtual representation of the information and share it.
Chinese New Year Traditions

This week, students in kindergarten and first grade learned about Chinese New Year traditions.

Guest lecturer, Dr. Martin Johnsson, a livestock geneticist at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala, Sweden, spoke with our ninth-grade biology classes, where students are currently studying genetics. He explained how computers and lab techniques are used to learn about genetic differences between individuals and chickens and pigs.
Virtual College Panel Takes Place on March 2

CCA juniors and their parents are invited to join us for a Virtual College Panel on Tuesday, March 2 at 6:30 p.m. As a kickoff to the college search process, admission representatives from the University of California (Irvine), Dickinson College (PA), and the University of Pittsburgh will address the junior class and their parents. They will provide insights into the college admission process and be available to answer our students' questions. The event is geared toward our junior students and their parents, but students and parents from lower grades are welcome to attend. To register, please email Christine Brown at or Beth Farias at
