Special outdoor and indoor activities include children's events, refreshments, music, raffles, and special sales. There will be a dog parade at 11:00 a.m. Of course, CCA will be a part of the event. Stop by our table located near the Osterville Baptist Church between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Attendance Procedures

Students who arrive at school after 8:00 a.m. must check in with the front desk receptionist. They will receive a pass to hand to the teacher. Parents should notify the school receptionist in advance if a child will need to be dismissed early. Students departing from school before 3:00 p.m. are required to sign out at the reception desk. This is an important safety procedure and allows us to account for students on and off campus during school hours.

CLASS HIGHLIGHTS

Spanish Class
Spanish classes have been celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. This week, students in the Spanish 3 Honors Class made authentic empanadas by hand as well as chimichurri sauce, which they then enjoyed for lunch.
Marine Scientists
CCA’s marine science class spent Tuesday shipboard and dockside in Woods Hole. After deploying oceanographic gear at sea and meeting benthic animals that live locally, they toured a replica of the Alvin submersible before seeing the real HOV Alvin getting ready for its next trip onboard WHOI’s R/V Atlantis. It was a great day!
PE classes have included time in CCA's heated pool for lower and middle school students.

PE Classes
The fall weather has allowed many of our physical education classes to take place outdoors.
FACULTY SPOTLIGHT
Elizabeth Sears
Elizabeth Sears is Cape Cod Academy's lower school world languages teacher. She grew up in Longmeadow, MA and then attended Connecticut College where she double majored in Chinese Language and Literature and East Asian Studies, while also enjoying time studying abroad in Beijing. After graduation, Elizabeth taught Chinese at Kingswood Oxford School in West Hartford, CT where she had the opportunity to return to China. She led a student trip there and also visited on her own to live and study in Hangzhou. Elizabeth received her MA in Chinese with a concentration in teaching Chinese from Middlebury College and then taught at Landon School in Bethesda, MD for five years.

Elizabeth is thrilled to be back on the Cape, living in Falmouth with her family. She is familiar with the area having spent many years at the Children's School of Science in Woods Hole when she was growing up. In addition to teaching Chinese, Elizabeth loves gardening and running.

This year, she is most excited to introduce different languages to the lower school students. She is also excited to integrate the study of language with the study of culture, as the two are so inextricably linked. So far, the lower schoolers are doing quite well in their endeavors.
