The committee will continue to meet regularly over the next several months to develop the district plan. What exactly is a TDMD, and how will this impact our region? Check out the recording linked above from last week’s Travel & Tourism Forum to learn more.

On January 24th and 26th, we hosted Housing to Protect Cape Cod’s first regional housing strategy forums. Dozens of community leaders from a cross-section of industries came together to discuss the Cape’s housing challenges and brainstorm possible solutions. This conversation will continue with another strategy meeting in February.

Travel & Tourism

With exciting things on the horizon (including a major website redesign planned for early 2024, $1m in shoulder season marketing funds from the Travel & Tourism Season Extension grant, and the possibility of a Tourism Destination Marketing District designation), the Cape Cod Chamber has decided we are at a critical phase of refining and capitalizing on our strengths as a destination. To this end, our marketing team has solicited proposals from agencies with experience in destination branding, with a goal of creating a strong, refreshed brand-visual identity that will position us as a world-class destination for leisure travel – as well as group tours, meetings, weddings, and sports - in the years to come. Stay tuned for more info to come!

In other news, we are excited to share that longtime Chamber employee Liz DiGirolamo has been appointed to the position of Director of Tourism Outreach and Promotion. In her new role, Liz will support the marketing team in executing the Chamber’s tourism marketing programs, implementing strategies to promote travel to Cape Cod, and managing sponsorships of the annual Cape Cod Travel Guide. “Liz will be instrumental in supporting our ongoing mission of marketing Cape Cod as a thriving, year-round destination,” said Kristen Mitchell Hughes, VP of Tourism Marketing. “Her marketing savvy, expertise in helping members develop creative marketing solutions, and strong relationships within the local hospitality industry make her an ideal fit for this new position.” Liz most recently served as Director of Investor Relations for the Cape Cod Chamber, having joined the organization in 2017. 

Out and About

On January 24th we celebrated the Cape Cod Wedding community at our Annual Cocktails and Connections Event. The night was coordinated and sponsored by Cape Cod Celebrations and The West End and this year it was truly a showstopper!!  If you are interested in learning more about the wedding industry on Cape Cod and its immense contribution to the local economy, or if you are a wedding vendor looking to get more involved please email membership@capecodchamber.org. Patti Lloyd, our Sr. VP of Sales, attended the New York Travel Show on January 28- 29 at the Javits Convention Center, along with partners from Provincetown: Tony Fucillo, Provincetown Tourism Office Director, and Rob Costa, Owner of Art’s Dune Tours. The show was well attended by 17, 000 consumers, 2,000 travel & trade suppliers, 750 travel advisers, and 250 media reps.
